Global Entry

Posted on June 30, 2014 at 11:54 pm

If you often find yourself travelling to the United States on business and are constantly getting fed up with queues through customs, check out Global Entry. Global Entry allows you to register with the U.S Customs and Border Protection who can approve you for expedited clearance through customs. Using their program, upon arrival instead of waiting in a hour long queue, you can use an automated service to grant you passage through customs. This process is to help speed up the transit time through the terminal by allowing trusted fliers quicker entry. However, to be approved for this service requires extensive background checks and an interview so many may not see the benefit unless you are a frequent flier. Another consideration that should be made is to determine whether your frequent travel location has the Global Entry terminals installed at the airport. A full list of locations and details can be found using simple internet searches.

A Package Deal or Separating Flights and Hotel?

Posted on May 30, 2014 at 5:46 pm

Package bookings are popular because they’re easy and not very problematic for holidaymakers, but deals can be cheaper when you book the flights and hotel separately. The best way to do this is to check the day the flights go out to the country of your choice, and then directly contact the hotel to make your booking. Once confirmed you go ahead and book the flights.

It must be said that you’re not always guaranteed to find a great deal then a package holiday, and it can take a little bit of research to find a time where you have access to cheap flights and cheap accommodation. Bargains are much easier to find in package form and perhaps that’s why so many people now book these holidays as a whole, rather than having to individually arrange accommodation and flights without the help and guidance of a travel agency.

Travelling first Class on a Business Trip

Posted on May 22, 2014 at 4:24 pm

Many businesses will offer different flights for their employees and but not all are willing to hand out first-class flights, but many do, and there are different reasons for this. First class flights represent respect. If you respect your employees enough to send them out on a trip, then one way to show that you’re happy with their work is to bump them up to first class.

You can also get rewards in return, and an employee may feel more motivated t get similar experiences in the future, and they may then feel more motivated when they work, rather than feeling drained and tired from the uncomfortable flight with a child kicking the back of their chair.

Premium cabins on businesses trips are a great deal different to the typical cabins for holidaymakers, and it can actually means that an employee can get work accomplished on the plane, and that’s a lot more difficult to do when you’re not in the comfortable first class area.

Cruises abroad – Cheaper than you May Think

Posted on May 16, 2014 at 7:23 pm

Cruises are not longer holiday types that are solely designed for the wealthy; there are many bargains out there on various cruises across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. Cruises can be just as affordable as package deals in a hotel, and they offer holidaymakers the chance to spend time in different places, and not just one beachside location.

The older generations tend to be more associated with cruise holidays but more young people are taking up the opportunity too. Cruises are quite surreal; one minute you could be reading a book or taking a nap by the pool, and then an hour you’re ready to dock in a beautiful city.

Your meals are provided bythe ship but it can be pleasant to get out there to explore and perhaps try out the local foods in different restaurants. Cruises can range in price today and while some are extremely expensive others are not, and it all comes down to the level of service you’re looking for, as well as the length of your stay and the distance you want to travel.

When you may want to consider a Self Catering Holiday

Posted on May 9, 2014 at 2:56 pm

Self catering holidays are probably not the most popular option today, especially considering the number of affordable all inclusive options on the market, but there are some circumstances where this package can actually be beneficial.

If you’re a bit of a foodie, and you’re heading to a destination where there are plenty of places to dine out and try different foods, then you may want to eat out, rather than having the same buffet every evening in the same restaurant.

If you’re looking for a privatised holiday where you’re away from tourists then a self catering holiday can be advantageous. For example a villa holiday in a quiet region of Corfu will be really relaxing when enjoyed in privacy, and that’s something many self catering holidays are designed for.

The final reason is if you’re a keen explorer. You may not want to be bound the same place each and every night on holiday, and self catering is the way to go and you’ll get a much cheaper deal in the process.

Validating Holiday Claims

Posted on April 28, 2014 at 4:18 pm

There is little more dissapointing than going on holiday, only to find that the place you’ve chosen has sold you on something which doesn’t exist. It was all a lie, and everything you were expecting to be able to enjoy hasn’t materialised. In situations like this, there is a lot of blame to go around, including at yourself. Whenever you are researchign a holiday, it is always a good policy to research beyond the advertisements of the company selling the product. There are numerous review websites which give greater detail, from a far less biased standpoint. This can help to ensure that any misinformation that’s been put out there hasn’t caused you to make a decision you shouldn’t have.

In the event that this does happen to you, there should still be some avenues available to you. Firstly, making sure that the business you are dealing with is based in the UK, as opposed to your destination, can give you greater legal protection in the long run, as well as give you a better chance of receiving a refund should you so choose. If you’ve just missed out on one facet of what you were expecting, it may be better for you if you just sit back and enjoy what is left of your holiday.
