Keeping safe when travelling for business

Posted on October 29, 2022 at 5:56 pm

Business personnel have once again started to travel around the country and further afield to attend business strategy meetings, to meet new clients and many other reasons that are vital to the growth of the company. Although we have become used to holding these meetings online in recent years there is still the desire to meet new clients face to face and perhaps show visitors a different cultural experience. Keeping safe whilst travelling is important and there are a few considerations that anyone travelling for business should be aware of.

It is worth seeking out a travel safety awareness course for the relevant company personnel to attend as this will highlight the main areas that they should be aware of. This might include issues such as packing for safety, cultural awareness and effective communication. Attending a travel safety course may reveal aspects of travel that the traveller may not even think is a safety issue so this is a good way to prepare for many of the common eventualities. Covering topics such as hotel safety, risk assessments, and road traffic accidents, attending such a course will promote a culture of safety among anyone in the company who will be required to travel on company business.

Safe Accommodation for Business Travel

Posted on November 18, 2020 at 12:54 am

Travelling is often a big part of business and finding suitable accommodation is important. It needs to be in a convenient place depending on the nature of travel (such as close to meeting venues or near to places you’ll need to visit), and it needs to be safe as well. If you are travelling to a location that has challenges anyway, then safe accommodation is an important consideration.

If you work for a company, they should be able to sort suitable accommodation for your trip. This can be harder if travelling in a dangerous zone or a part of the world where accommodation is hard to come by. Talk to your company – they should provide risk assessments and have policies about the accommodation where their staff are put up when travelling for work. If you work freelance or as a contractor, liaise with other professionals and people in your destination to get the full picture.

Posted on September 26, 2020 at 8:31 pm

A golf trip might not strike you as the most family friendly trip, but in the right situations, it can be ideal. A golf trip can take you to some of the most beautiful parts of the world like Portugal’s Algarve region, which has exquisite golf courses dotted all over it. The weather is good and there are lots of things to do, from days out at the beach, to beautiful and historic towns to visit. This can make a golf trip perfect for everyone, regardless of what they like to do on holiday.

If you have children with you, they may not necessarily want to play golf all day. However you may be able to play a game or two with them, so you can all take part and have new experiences together. Staying in an apartment or villa adjoining a golf course that everyone can use will help make this possible.

Posted on August 30, 2018 at 10:58 pm

There tend to be two types of people in the world: those who are adventurous with food and look forward to holidays as a way of trying different cuisines, and those who are worried about finding anything at all that they will eat. If you are in the first category, then you may actually have chosen your destination based on its quality local cuisine, and the exciting food opportunities it will give you.

If you are a little more concerned about food, it may be worth conducting some research before you travel. This will help you to find restaurants that appeal to you, or that meet with your dietary requirements. This can really help to put your mind at rest. You might also find some more traditional restaurants that you like the sound of. Understand local cuisines before you travel, in case there aren’t descriptions on menus, so you have some idea of what you are getting.

What to Take on Holiday

Posted on March 31, 2018 at 8:41 am

Everyone has a different packing list when they go on holiday – different people are comfortable taking a different amount of luggage. Whilst some people might just take hand luggage, others may need to take a case that they pay for as well to go in the hold. However, there are some essentials that everyone will need to take – here are some things not to forget:

  • Passport. This is the most basic thing you will need! The holiday won’t go ahead without your passport.
  • Bags for liquids. At the airport, you will need to put your liquids into a clear plastic bag that seals at the top. If you have one, take it, because this will save you potentially having to pay for a new one at the airport.
  • Additional equipment, like golf clubs or skis. Make sure you check with the airline what their policy is on sports equipment. You will need to book this in advance.

Posted on December 27, 2017 at 12:24 pm

Skiing can be a great experience, if you are the kind of person who would enjoy a trip of this nature. It is made to look so idyllic in media and in adverts, that you could be fooled into thinking that it is for everyone. It definitely isn’t. If you dislike cold weather and don’t enjoy being active, skiing might not be the right choice for you.

However, lots of people do think skiing is the perfect option for them. Think about your options. You could learn to ski there, or you could take some lessons beforehand to master the basics. If the idea of this appeals to you, then a skiing holiday could be perfect.

It’s not just about the skiing either. The apres ski is all part of the experience. You will be able to enjoy whizzing down hills by day, followed by beautiful views, and cosy chalets and good wine by night.
