There’s more to a holiday than may be described in a warehouse full of travel leaflets. We definitely need breaks from work. But there’s even more to be said for a getaway break, leaving all standard routines behind and sampling a different life for a short while.
The advantages of taking a holiday start long before the cases are packed. It is something to anticipate and keeps long zones of routine form appearing unending. They’d only be a non-permanent staging post but looking a head to a vacation gives us the sense that whatever’s taking place currently has a stopping point in sight.
